After an initial online recital, the jury selected 8 young singers from 31 candidates to go on to the semi-final. The semi-finalists must present a three-part semi-final at the Conservatoire de Genève: an Opera Recital, a Lieder/Song Recital and the presentation of an Artistic Project.

For this semi.-final, the eight semi-finalists have to perform a free recital of Lieder/songs written for voice and piano or a capella, which must include at least one of the following pieces:

  • 1 Lied/song written in a contemporary style for voice and piano or a capella voice.*
  • 1 Lied/song for voice and piano, written by a woman composer between 1900 and 1940. See list in Appendix 1.

The Lieder/song Recital should not exceed 30 minutes including stage entrances/exits and the possible pauses. All pieces must be performed by heart except for the contemporary Lied/song. Additional exceptions may be granted upon request.
