Toshio Hosokawa
Biography
Born in 1955 in Hiroshima, Toshio Hosokawa is the most significant Japanese composer of his time. He has written almost 130 orchestral works, concertos, chamber music and operas, and has been a member of the Berlin Academy of Arts since 2001.
In 2018 he was the winner of a Japan Foundation Award. He is the Artistic Director of the Takefu International Music Festival and the Suntory Hall International Program for Music Composition.
His latest works focus on natural themes and readily combine European and Japanese instruments.
