Biography

Jean Sulem studied at the Conservatoire Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris. In 1981, he joined the Ensemble Intercontemporain, where he remained for ten years, performing both as a member and soloist. He notably recorded Luciano Berio’s Chemins II under Pierre Boulez. He has been involved in numerous premieres and has also been a member of the Rosamonde Quartet since its foundation in 1981. Since 1990, he has been professor of viola and chamber music at the Paris Conservatoire, and also teaches at the Tibor Varga Academy and the International Summer Academy in Cervo, Italy. He regularly serves on juries for international competitions.
