Biography
Magnus Lindberg is one of the leading European composers of his generation, particularly admired for his orchestral music. His works are performed worldwide by major orchestras, ensembles and soloists, including Yefim Bronfman, Yuja Wang, Frank Peter Zimmermann, Pekka Kuusisto, Avanti, Ensemble InterContemporain, London Sinfonietta, Philharmonia Orchestra, and the Los Angeles and Chicago Symphony Orchestras, under conductors such as Salonen, Saraste, Oramo, Lintu, Franck, Rattle, Heras- Casado and Gilbert. He has been composer-in-residence with the New York Philharmonic, SWR Stuttgart and the London Philharmonic, and his music is widely recorded on Deutsche Grammophon, Sony, Ondine and Finlandia.

Joint final for the Composition and Conducting Competitions: the three finalist conductors will, by drawing lots, conduct one of the three finalist works for symphony orchestra from the Composition Competition, performed by the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande.
