Biography

Harold Hirtz pursued his studies in violin at the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse de Paris. He began his career as an orchestral musician prior to transitioning to the viola in 2005, subsequently joining the Orchestre philharmonique de Strasbourg as principal viola the following year. He then joined the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra in Amsterdam before becoming principal viola of the Sinfonieorchester Basel in 2017. His chamber music activities have taken him to perform alongside such notable musicians as Marielle Nordmann, Jean Mouillère, Cédric Tiberghien, Marc Coppey, Martin Beaver and Jean-Yves Thibaudet.
