Biography

A native of Latvia, Vineta Sareika began her violin studies at the age of five in her home town Jurmala. She studied at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Paris with Gérard Poulet and at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel with Augustin Dumay. After becoming a laureate of the Queen Elisabeth Violin Competition in 2009 Vineta Sareika starts a multi-faceted career spanning a wide range of activities.

She performs regularly as a soloist with the leading european orchestras, has been the concertmaster of the Royal Flemish Philharmonic and is since 2012 the primaria of the Artemis Quartet. Her recordings with the Artemis Quartet but also with the Dali Piano Trio and her long year stage partner, pianist Amandine Savary have been highly acclaimed by the critics (Echo Klassik, Diapason d'Or, Choc of the Year of Classica, Editor's Choice of Gramophone). Since 2022 Vineta Sareika has been a member of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, where she has just won the first concertmaster position. In addition to her concert activities, Vineta teaches chamber music at the Universität der Künste Berlin and regularly gives masterclasses.

She plays an Antonio Stradivari violin (1683), generously on loan to her from the Ruggieri Foundation.
