Biography
Born in Tokyo in 1989, Seiya Ueno studied at the Tokyo National University of Music and Fine Arts, the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris and the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in where he completed his postgraduate studies with distinction.
A prizewinner at major competitions in Japan, in 2008 Seiya Ueno was awarded the Grand-Prix at the 8th Jean-Pierre Rampal International Flute Competition in Paris, an event that launched his career as an international artist. He is also a laureate of prestigious international competitions, such as the Jean-Pierre Rampal Competition, the Nicolet Competition, the Maxence Larrieu Competition, the Aeolus Competition and the New York Young Artists Competition.
Ueno regularly performs in Japan and abroad with internationally acclaimed orchestras. He is also actively involved in the promotion and teaching of music to young people; he organises flute camps with world-renowned flutists, has served as a judge and chairman of international competitions, and runs the "Music for Children" Foundation, inviting students to his concerts free of charge.
He is currently an Associate Professor at the Osaka College of Music. He is also a founder of the Otonosumuheya Music School, and the leader of the Tokyo Baroque Player.

I. Recital (50-60 min): 45% of the evaluation
Free programme. The repertoire of the Solo Recital is at the free choice of the candidate. It must be constructed as a concert and explained by a programme note. The repertoire can include solo pieces and pieces with piano.
NB: The Recital should not exceed 60 minutes including the entrances/exits of the stage and the possible pauses.
II. Semi-Final: Chamber Music (approx. 45 min): 35% of the evaluation
