Liza Lim


Liza Lim is an Australian composer, teacher and researcher whose music focusses on collaborative and transcultural practices. Beauty, the mosaic of time, ecological connection and the transformation of the senses are ongoing concerns in her compositions. She has written four operas which explore the themes of desire, memory, spiritual transformation and the uncanny.

She has worked with some of the best international orchestras, such as the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Bavarian Radio Symphony, the BBC Symphony, the WDR Symphony, and the South West German Radio Symphony, and has been Composer in Residence with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra. She has worked for 30 years with the ELISION Ensemble and regularly works with the best contemporary ensembles.

She is a Professor at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and at the University of Huddersfield in the United Kingdom.
