HIS WORK
"The Past Recaptured" for viola and chamber orchestra
The Past Recaptured is inspired by Marcel Proust’s “In Search of Lost Time”. The piece uses glissando patterns to evoke various signs, reflecting his journey from lear- ning about signs to “visitation”. It reflects Proust's realisation that his past experiences provide rich material for his literary work.
It was performed during the final round on October 20th by violist Lise Berthaud and the Orchestre de Chambre de Genève, conducted by Pierre Bleuse.
