Biographie

Ivett Gyöngyösi began her piano studies at the age of seven. Four years later, she was admitted to the Exceptional Young Talents Class of the Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest, then in 2011 to the piano department. From 2016, she became one of the first students of the Barenboim-Said Akademie in Berlin in Nelson Goerner’s class. Currently, Ivett Gyöngyösi continues her professional education at the ‘Haute École de Musique de Genève’ as a master soloist student with Nelson Goerner.

Despite her young age, Ivett Gyöngyösi has won many awards in international piano competitions; she took First Place at the International Chopin Piano Competition in Budapest twice, in 2006 and 2008. She also won the Georges Cziffra Prize in Vienna in 2009 as the youngest competitior. In 2010 she scored a sweeping triumph as the winner of the LIONS International Piano Competition organized in Pécs,theEuropean Capital of Culture and she was appointed ’Young Steinway Artist’ by Steinway and Sons in Hamburg. In the same year she won First Prize and EMCY Prize at the Vladimir Krainev International Piano Competition in Kharkiv, Ukraine. She became 2011’s New Talent and UNESCO Special Prize winner among artists coming from 40 countries at the Euro Radio’s New Talent Music Competition. In 2013 July she was awarded First Prize at the Lancaster International Piano Festival and Competition in the USA, while in October she collected all of the awards at the 10th Darmstadt International Chopin Piano Competition. She received the Junior Prima Primissima Prize in 2012, and in 2014 she won the classical music talent show of the Hungarian Television ’Virtuosos’– during the show her performance was likened to Annie Fischer’s by both the jury and the audience. Later she became the charitable ambassador of the Virtuosos. In 2019, she won the Beethoven Competition of the Haute Ecole de Musique de Genève..
 
She made her highly successful orchestra debut at the Grand Hall of the Liszt Academy at age 15. Later she performed all over the globe in such venues as Wiener Musikverein, Laeiszhalle-Musikhalle in Hamburg, Warsaw Philharmonic Hall, Palace of Arts in Budapest, Roy Thomson Hall in Toronto, Pierre Boulez Saal in Berlin and many other concert halls through Europe, Asia and the United States.  
 
In 2020, she performed with great success Beethoven’s Concerto no.4 with the Orchestra de la HEM and Gábor Takács-Nagy at the Victoria Hall in Geneva.
 
Ivett has appeared at many international music festivals including the ’Chopin and his Europe’ Festival in Warsaw, Kyoto International Music Festival, International Mendelssohn-Academy Festival in Leipzig, Liszt Junioracademy Festival in Utrecht, Ravenna Music Festival and Chopin Festival in Marienbad. She has also worked with many orchestras such as the Kremerata Baltica, Hungarian National Philharmonic Orchestra, Romanian Radio Orchestra, Hungarian Radio Orchestra, the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra Pardubice or the Slovak Radio Symphony Orchestra. She has worked with such renowned musicians as Daniel Barenboim, Plácido Domingo, Gábor Takács-Nagy, Andrea Bocelli, Paul Badura-Skoda, Emile Naoumoff, Boris Berman, Andrzej Jasinski, Jura Margulis, Alexander Strukov, Michael Barenboim, Tamás Vásáry, Zoltán Kocsis and Nelson Goerner, all of them appreciated her extraordinary talent.
