Biography
Internationally-acclaimed, award-winning Canadian cellist Shauna Rolston is one of the most gifted, unique, passionate, and innovative musical voices on the contemporary world stage. Over her distinguished career Shauna has performed in many of the world’s major concert halls with many of the world’s leading artists; her commitment to contemporary music has led to the commission and creation for her of more than 50 works for cello, including concerti by Canada’s leading composers. She continues to captivate, astonish and delight with her concerts, recordings, and world premieres.
The diversity of Shauna’s artistry is reflected in her many honours, most recently her appointments as Canadian Music Centre Ambassador and Honorary Ambassador for Sistema-Toronto, and the Oskar Morawetz Award for Excellence in Music Performance.
Shauna is Professor of Cello at the University of Toronto. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art History and a Master of Music degree from the Yale where she studied with the distinguished cellist and pedagogue, Aldo Parisot. Ms. Rolston is managed world-wide by Michael Dufresne.

(8 candidates, max. duration 60 minutes)
- One baroque sonata from the Appendix I
- One contemporary work from the Appendix II
- Rest of the programme at free choice.
Works already performed in the Online Recital may not be repeated. Determining factors include originality, choice of repertoire and variety.

(max. 30 candidates - max. duration 45 min.)

Candidates may perform the entire Suite or select movements they wish to perform (minimum 3). They are given the option to play the repeats or not. Please keep in mind given timing for the Recital.
