Mauro Trombetta, Italy, member of the voice jury 2016

Mauro Trombetta studied voice, composition and conducting at the Conservatory of Turin. His career as a baritone led him to perform in many European countries, as well as in the former Soviet Union. In 1978, he took up the direction of the Schola Cantorum San Gregorio Magno di Tracate (Novara) choir, with which he appeared at important festivals and with prestigious orchestras. In 1983, he was appointed Director of the Teatro Regio in Turin, then Director of the Artistic Committee of the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma. During the same period, he also acted as consultant for the Venice Biennale. Trombetta was then nominated Artistic Director of the Teatro Coccia de Novare’s opera season, then twice Artistic Director of the Arena di Verona. He then successively became production and programme manager of the Teatro Bellini de Catania and artistic Consultant, then artistic Director of the Teatro dell’Opera in Rome. He is now delegate artistic Counsellor of the Montecarlo Philharmonic Orchestra. Mauro Trombetta is also deeply involved in educational activities. He taught for many years at Reggio Emilia and gives masterclasses around the world. He has served as jury member for many international competitions.
