Biography
Native of Hong Kong, Yiu is currently Head of Woodwind, Brass and Percussion at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. He is also the founding director of Hong Kong Wind Kamerata and vice president of the Asian Double Reed Association.
One of the leading oboists and educators in the region, Yiu studied in Hong Kong, Australia, UK, Holland and Germany. He has given solo and chamber music performances worldwide with distinguished artists and ensembles. He is frequently invited to give masterclasses in top institutions and has served as jury for prominent international competitions.
His students have won major prizes in many international competitions and hold major positions at renowned orchestras across Europe and Asia.
Yiu is also professionally engaged as advisor, assessor, committee and panel member for various advisories and institutions.
He was elected Associate of the Royal Academy of Music for significant contributions to the music profession.

OBOE COMPETITION 2021
ONLINE RECITAL: 13-19 SEPTEMBER 2021
32 oboists aged 19 to 39 from 19 nationalities have been selected to participate in the 75th Geneva International Music Competition, section Oboe. Due to the ongoing pandemic, the first part of the 2021 Competition is held online. Selected candidates had until August 15th to submit their video recordings of the Online Recital, which will be streamed virtually from 13-19 September 2021 on www.concoursgenve.ch, YouTube and Facebook. Results will be announced on Sunday 19 September, 1:00 PM (GMT+2).
