            Biography
A graduate of The Juilliard School in New York, German pianist Thomas Hoppe worked for several years on the Perlman Music Programme. He is now a member of Trio Atos and Ensemble 4.1, which combines piano and wind quartet. He has performed with the Modigliani Quartet and the Shanghai Quartet, as well as with artists such as Itzhak Perlman, Vilde Frang, Antje Weithaas and Tabea Zimmermann. A guest pianist at numerous international competitions, including the Queen Elisabeth and Joseph Joachim Competitions, he has been Professor at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen since 2018.

PROGRAMME
The eight semi-finalists must perform a 50-60 minute recital at free choice
- Repertoire may include works for solo viola and/or for viola and piano.
- Works already performed in the Online Recital may not be repeated.
NB: Candidates are encouraged to choose a varied, cohesive programme that highlights their musical personality and interpretative skills. They will need to provide a programme note (due after the preselection stage).
