Gli Angeli Genève

Biography

Founded in 2005 by Stephan MacLeod, Gli Angeli Genève is one of the leading European ensembles for 17th and 18th Century repertoire. The ensemble is composed of Swiss and foreign musicians and performs on period instruments. It is based in Geneva, where it regularly gives performances, notably a programme dedicated to the cantatas of J.S. Bach, as well as its annual concert at the Victoria Hall.
Each year, in partnership with the Département de l’Instruction Publique of the Canton of Geneva and the Musée d’Art et d’Histoire, Gli Angeli offers educational activities to local students. The ensemble is regularly solicited to perform in renowned venues and has been invited by some of the most important European festivals. It is well appreciated by the public and by critics.
During the last two seasons, Gli Angeli has been in residence in Utrecht and in Thuringia, where it performs regularly. It has also given concerts in Saintes, Bremen, Stuttgart, Brussels, Milan, Wroclaw, Paris and The Hague, among others. Upcoming projects include a new programme dedicated to Haydn’s Symphonies, several concerts in Europe, as well as a concert tour in Canada.
