Miran Vaupotić

Biography

Acclaimed by the press for his dynamism, Croatian conductor Miran Vaupotić has performed in Europe, the Middle East, the United States, Latin America and Asia. He has been invited to conduct in major venues such as the Musikverein in Vienna and has collaborated with many ensembles and symphony orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra, with which he recorded a “Tchaikovsky” album for Parma Recordings. His debut recording “Elegia” for Classic Concert Records was followed by two recordings for Naxos: “Sensations” featuring Di Marino and Piazzolla Bandoneon Concertos with the Croatian Philharmonic Orchestra and “Mediterranean” with the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra, featuring music by Charles Camilleri. A strong advocate for new music he premiered works such as Carlos Franzetti’s Clarinet Concerto, Peter Machajdík’s Farewell Fanfare, Youngkwang Yang’s Korean Folksongs, Roberto Di Marino's Guitar Concerto and Primous Fountain’s Symphony No. 2, commissioned by famous American producer Quincy Jones. In 2016 he won First Prize and special "Haydn Award" at the 12th International Aram Khachaturian Conducting Competition in Yerevan, Armenia.
