Yuan Yu

2nd Prize ex aequo

Yuan Yu was born 2001 in Beijing and has already won numerous international competitions, including in Cluj, Prague and Kobe. He has just finished his studies at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Paris, where he completed a master's degree in flute with Sophie Cherrier, a master's degree in piccolo with Nathalie Rozat and a bachelor's degree in baroque flute with Jan de Winne. He continued his studies with Andrea Lieberknecht at the Hochschule für Musik in Munich and is currently on probation as principal flute of the Hong Kong Sinfonietta and the Konzerthausorchester Berlin. His wish, as he wrote in his application, is to take a new path after all these years of studying and to deepen his own aesthetic vision of music and the way he can express it with the flute. He wants nothing more than to "enter into a dialogue with the world through music".
