Mario Bruno

2nd Prize ex aequo

Mario Bruno was born in Melfi, between Naples and Bari in southern Italy. He studied in Foggia with Antonio Amenduni and in Stuttgart with Davide Formisano before taking lessons with Andrea Lieberknecht at the Hochschule für Musik in Munich. He has won numerous prestigious prizes, including the 2nd prize at the ARD-Competition in Munich and 1st prize at the Kobe Competition in Japan. He is the principal flute of the Staatskapelle Kassel (Germany) and gives numerous concerts as a soloist. As he writes, this competition is the ideal platform for him to take his musical career to a higher level, a goal for which he is prepared to go beyond his limits.
