Aya Matsushita

Aya Matsushita was born in Miyazaki, in Japan, and studied at the Toho Gakuen School of Music in Tokyo with Hiroko Nakano. She took masterclasses with Andrzej Jasinski, Stefan Kovacevich, Menahem Pressler, Dmitri Alexeev and Arnulf von Arnim and in 2012 she participated in the Emil Gilels Foundation Masterclass, where she received advice from Lilya Zilberstein, Dimitri Baschkirov and Robert Levin. She is currently pursuing her studies at the Rostock University of Music and Drama under the tutelage of Bernd Zack.

Laureate of a several national and international competitions, Aya Matsushita was awarded 3rd Prize at the 67th Geneva International Music Competition in 2012. She appears regularly in Europe and in Japan, performing with renowned orchestras such as the Norddeutsche Philharmonie, the Vorpommern Philharmonic Orchestra and the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande.
