SWISS CELLO ASSOCIATION
Switzerland is known for its mountains, its chocolate, its watches… and its cellists! Guy Fallot and Rocco Flilippini, who recently passed away, François Guye, Ivan Monighetti, Thomas & Patrick Demenga, Christian Poltera, David Pia, Lionel Cottet, Denis Severin, as well as Sol Gabetta, Ophélie Gaillard, Nadège Rochat, Martina Schucan; all these musicians are the lifeblood of Swiss Music Universities, as well as being internationally recognized performers and teachers.
The Swiss Cello Association was founded in Geneva in 2021 and aims to create a network of cello lovers, encourage new vocations, and widen the repertoire. Through encounters, masterclasses, tributes, concerts and recordings, the association seeks to develop the national and international reputation of Swiss cellists or those trained in Switzerland. By creating exchanges in between professional and amateur practices, by encouraging intergenerational solidarity, as well as diversity of repertoire and genres, the Association strives to make the cello a popular instrument, accessible to everyone.
