Richard A. Jeandin
President of the Board of the Geneva International Music Competition from 1996 to 2004
Richard A. Jeandin obtained a Law Degree from the University of Geneva while simultaneously completing his entire music studies at the Conservatoire of this same city. Prizewinner of the class for piano virtuosity, he also studied composition and obtained a First Prize for Organ before working with Jean-Jacques Grunenwald in Paris.
As Professor at the Geneva Conservatoire of Music, Richard A. Jeandin taught piano, wind instruments, and took over the organ class of Jean-Jacques Grunenwald whom he was assistant to, while also giving numerous concerts both in Switzerland and abroad.
From 1977 to 2001, he held the position of Assistant Director of the Conservatoire, and now presides over its Société des Amis des Anciens Elèves.
From 1996 to 2004, he presided over the Council of the Geneva International Music Competition.
Moreover, he holds the position of Director of Music at the church of Saint-Joseph in Geneva and for a long while directed the Schola Saint-Grégoire, specialised in plainsong. A former member of the Commission Romande de Musique Sacrée, he founded the Association des Organistes et Maîtres de Chapelle Catholiques de Genève, of which he is honorary president.
