Swiss imposed works

Since its inception, the Geneva International Music Competition has been supporting the music of our time, and in particular Swiss contemporary music. This means that candidates must play an imposed work by a contemporary Swiss composer whose interpretation is the subject of a special price offered by Suisa Foundation for Music.

Many composers such as Henri Gagnebin, Frank Martin, Heinz Holliger or more recently Eric Gaudibert and Nicolas Bolens have written works for one of the disciplines of the Geneva International Music Competition.

For 2010, the Artistic Committee has selected the oboe and the young composer from Basel Martin Jaggi, who wrote a piece for oboe and piano entitled Strom.

For 2011, the Artistic Committee has selected the voice and the composer Francesco Hoch, who wrote a piece for voice and piano entitled I tre tiranni.
