Sergio Menozzi

Sergio Menozzi was born in Bellinzona (Switzerland) in 1960. He first studied clarinet in Lugano, and later in the Geneva Conservatoire under Thomas Friedli, where he earned a First Prize in his virtuoso exam. In parallel, he also studied with composer Paul Glass.

The winner of numerous competitions, he is currently solo bass clarinet in the Orchestre de l'Opéra National de Lyon and teaches chamber music in the Conservatoire National de Musique de Lyon.

Sergio Menozzi is also a member and founder of several chamber music and contemporary music ensembles. In 1989, he formed a duet with Swiss percussionist Ivano Torre, performing improvised creative music. In 1992, he formed a quintet dedicated to creative music and called "Musique d'Urt".

He also belongs to "Anamorphose", a chamber music ensemble focusing on a creative approach to performing music, closely linked to composition.

As a composer, he has written around thirty chamber music, vocal, instrumental and symphonic works, as well as operas.
